Please recommend a tree removal company

Original post made by Resident, Midtown, on May 2, 2008

Can someone please recommend a tree removal company which can remove an old tree (a big branch fell overnight damaging fense and neigbour's garden). I need someone cheap because my home insurance deductible is $5K, so it will be all out of my pocket. Also, the falling branch damaged overhanging cable (or electric) line, am I liable for that?

I've been very pleased with Bob's Tree Service on Greer Road. Reasonably priced, and they do great work. 650-493-4016

You could check w/ Kelly of Kelly's Stump Grinding, Los Altos - this is an expert on big stump grinding and he must know some good tree removal people (who often don't do the stumps, BTW...)

With luck it may be a street tree which is the City's responsibility. Street trees can be set back fairly far from the front property line; so check this out first.
