Soap Box Derby

Original post made by joe sparaco on Apr 18, 2008

The second annual Palo Alto Elks/Silicon Valley Soap Box Derby is going to take place on June 1st on Dana Street in Mtn. View and will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm

There are already 31 kids signed up to race, plus the Mayor of Mtn. View has challenged neighboring Mayor's to race him for the "Mayor's Cup" race that will run at noon.

We are running the "Super Kids Classic", cars built for two riders... the driver is an experianced Soap Box Derby racer, and the passenger is a child with "special needs" who will compete with the rest of the field for trophies and the coveted trip to Akron Ohio to race in the All American Soap Box Derby. The All American is now in it's 71st running.

There will be lots of things to do besides watching racing, and there will be food booths for your enjoyment.

The Soap Box Derby is for kids from 8 to 17. It's not too late to sign up to be a racer, just contact any of the officials located on our web-site svsbd.com
