State budget crisys and a few ways to cut back "Hydrogen Highway" "Bullet Train"
Original post made by Rick, Charleston Gardens, on Apr 7, 2008
The Hydrogen Highway program is a complete waste of money and until private industry is ready to take the whole program on it should be dropped. $3,000,000 for a single pump station? Crazy!! Fuel cell for $30,000 to $50,000 and it may only last a few years? Crazy!!
20 years to get the program running? Crazy!!
It would make more sense if the state took over refining gas, running the railroads, owning the power lines and dosens of other things than this program.
About the High Speed Railway or Bullet Train program. Why would the state even consider running a "Pie in the Sky" program? This would just compete with the airline business. It is in many ways just the same as the airline business.
As proposed there would be one stop in the L.A. area and one or two stops in the S.F.Bay area. Each would require giant parking lots at their stops.
Airports now doen't even have good public transportation systems to them.
This should be a private enterprise!! Privat money won't invest in it because it would be a giant money loser. The established airlines are going broke and they are all set up.
The burecrats who are promoting this as a lifetime career opportunity for themselfs and their friends.
Any money saved from shutting down these programs completly would free up money for teachers. Having a educated population is much more important than these "Pork" Project.
