Big midnight bang in foothills was WWI shell

An extremely rusty artillery shell, apparently left over from World War I target practice near Palo Alto's Foothills Park, was exploded about midnight Wednesday without incident, Police Sgt. Sandra Brown said.

Does this mean that LAH doesn't have a CANS system like us? Maybe we don't have as good a library, but the police can tell us of impending bangs!
