Did you know that a movie has been made about the 1967 'Third Wave' experiment at Cubberly High School? Here's the lede from an article from today's Hollywood Reporter and a link.
PARK CITY, Utah (Hollywood Reporter) - Based on a real event from a California high school in 1967 and transposed to Germany today, "The Wave" is a cautionary tale about the roots of fascism. Seductive and horrifying at the same time, it suggests that anything is possible in today's unstable environment.

We learned about this when we were students at Cubberley (way back in the olden days '79 - the last year before it closed), and this was discussed again by a college professor I had many years later.
Its a fascinating (amazing) piece of history, for people who think 'it can't happen here - we're too xxx (smart, educated, independent, etc.)
It REALLY illustrates the tangible dangers of balkanizing our community. I'd say its required reading for Palo Altans old and new.
