When the wind blows in from the East and hits the walls and porous materials around the home, there is left a good 1/8 inch deep white powder substance. I can wash it away into the soil which eventually is absorbed, however, in the mean time, it is airborne. My household is experiencing eye irritation and upper respiratory issues.

My concerns is how to deal with the fall out of the chemicals used to put out the Witch Fires and other local fires. The winds pick these chemicals up and blow them into our community. There is no education on how to prepare ourselves to avoid health risks.

I called San Diego County Health Dept today and was transferred several times when I finally ended up with "Todd" who took down my concerns and said someone from the fire dept. would come out and check out the substance.

The local fire dept. quickly responded and left a message with the young man at my home that it was just normal cement perspiration. I have lived in this home over 12 years and this is the first time my cement is perspiring.

Can someone give me advise on whom/where I can take a sample of this substance and find out what this white powder is?
