Crimes & Incidents, posted by Editor, Palo Alto Online, on Nov 7, 2007 at 8:16 am

Todd David Burpee was arraigned in Santa Clara County Superior Court this afternoon on charges he beat, kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old Gunn High School student last week. I would have liked this article to be more informative. I heard on the news that he is a graduate from Palo Alto High School. WHEN did he graduate? WHERE does he live, i.e, what city does he reside in? Is he working or going to college? Has he talked about WHY he did this act? The national news says that he issued a statement indicating that he committed this horrible act because he was "mad at his girlfriend"!! If this is true, what kind of person does this violent act to another human being because he's mad at another female?

Previously posted on Twonsquare was the information that he graduated from Paly in the class of 2006 (?), had recently moved to San Jose, was working but got fired for some sort of fraud scheme, and claims he was just super mad at his girlfriend after a fight about his getting fired. So he went and attacked this girl. Could have been a boy. She was just the first one he saw. He beat her up, put what he thought was her dead body in the back of his car, sexually assaulted what he thought was a corpse, drove the body to his girlfriend's house in Sunnyvale and went inside, at which time the victim jumped out of the car and ran away, got help and escaped. This was after she tried to call 911 while he pumped gas, but the call didn't go through.

Apparently he has an anger management problem, to put it mildly. He's being held without bail.

actually, from reports it sounds more like he laid in wait for her at the front of her apartment building in P.A. - not that she was the first person he saw...he doesn't even live in P.A. anymore

The 911 call didn't go thru - can you say more about that?

The San Mateo Daily News had an article on Todd Burpee. Basically, the guy was viewing teenage porn and Asian porn on his computer and his girlfriend found out about it. So what does this upstanding young man do? He goes out, finds a young Asian teenager and beats her into unconsciousness, rapes her and then drives around in his car.
