I live in the North suburbs of Chicago, and Comcast has also deleted C-Span2 from our analog cable as of October 16th, 2007. Apparently, they have tried to keep it secret (despite their brief notice on the unreadable "TV Guide" channel), since it is advertised as a "public service" of our cable companies. But, of course, all of us who love BookTV noticed immediately, and may have been infuriated like me. It is now a premium service, and should no longer be touted as a public service, unless all programs are also made available on the internet.

Yes, we have also lost TV guide channel too. We did get some computerised telephone calls saying something along this line, but who takes note of computerised telephone calls. Friends in San Jose have also just lost the history channel, and that one would bother me.

Comcast is a thieving, overcharging organization that needes to die, asap. ahh, now I feel better.
How about 93% increase in subscription fees in the last decade? This is a *gouging* company, if ever I saw one, and their service is the *worst*.
Today, the FCC ruled that cable companies can no longer make exclusive contracts with apartment buildings - thus giving the telcos (also a bunch of thieves) the right to solicit business with individual apartment dwellers.
Maybe we'll finally begin to see some competition that will lower prices, and provide more bang for the buck - but don't count on it, as the thieving media and telco groups have more than their share of the *60,000* lobbyists in Washington.
It's an insult that Comcast took away C-SPAN II, as they used to just "throw it in" as a little-watched premium. C-SPAN doesn't even charge Comcast very much for carrying C-SPAN programming, so the slimey senior executive group at Comcast are making bigger profits (in terms of %) than they do with more costly services.
What I love is that right now, IPTV is slipping in underneath the giants - little by little. It won't be long before we see a tipping point. I rarely watch TV any more - who needs it?
These theives charge for access, and make you watch ads *on top of everything else*. They're double-dipping as they deliver your eyeballs to advertisers.
Remember - IPTV - Apple, and others. are waiting...

I live in the Boston area and Comcast has deleted C-SPAN2, which also carries Book TV.
I talked to "Erik" in India who had no idea what I was talking about. I called the local office and just got sent back and forth for an hour. No one at Comcast wanted to explain it.
Finally, I got someone who said, "All of this was explained in your bill". You know, the junk mail that comes with your bill? Yeah, somewhere in there was a statement about Digital TV and C-SPAN2 and how you better switch to Digital soon or else.
This company cannot be trusted to serve the community!! They have taken the profits and their only concern is making more profit, not competing and not providing service.
They have NO motivation since they're effectively a monopoly. I have NO choice but Comcast in my town, and all the towns around are in the same boat. DSL doesn't go to my house, I'm too far from the CO.
Comcast was entrusted with providing a public service AND to make a profit, but they have forgotten about the former and only care about the latter, making money.
If I knew they were re-investing all that extra $$$ they're squeezing out of us, I wouldn't mind so much, but they're just lining their own pockets at the expense of citizens.
THERE IS NO FREE MARKET COMPETITION at work here!!
I have LOST service and I'm paying $100 a month. Now, they want me to pay more for the same service, using the Digital Conversion as an excuse. They also do NOT explain any of this on their website.
Since Comcast has been allowed to profit immensely, as a defacto monopoly, the least they can do is provide C-SPAN coverage for free. We should be able to watch our own government at work. In fact, C-SPAN 1, 2, and 3, should be available to everyone in the country at all times for no extra money.
COMCAST has NO accountability to its customers!!
So, who you gonna call? You're SOL because they won't respond and most you can do is cancel your subscription, lose your Internet connection and CATV service.
Is anyone in the FCC or Congress watching how this company shakes us down?

Thanks to the outspoken posters here, I feel better too. But I would like more info/data. Has anyone seen an annual report? Is it straight up? What kind of salaries are the CEO, CFO, etc. drawing down? What is the return on investment? What are the salient facts of the balance sheet? -- Also, is my package of TV/internet/phone @124 as good as I can get?

WOW, no contributions at the comsuck rip-off thread since April 2008 !!
These scam-artists stole THREE stations from the regular line up several years ago in the Chicago area: Oxygen and C-Span 1 and 2.
Upon calling one of their clueless (US based) clowns I was told (lied to) the stations were responsible for bumping them into the "digital arena", and the slots/stations formerly occupied would be filled. Both were lies. C-suck made the decision to move them to channels in the 100+ range, requiring a comsuck digital box.
Comsuckers then intended to charge $2 or $3 per TV for the rental box, but after someone (school board?) in MN threatned to sue their useless azz they agreed to provide each household with ONE free digital box.
I ended up this forum today due to the fact C-Span 2 mysteriously disappeared 72 hours ago. A visit to the local billing office today revealed THEY are also missing the channel, which confirmed the problem is not isolated to my residence. Needless to mention central repair CC appears oblivious to the problem, and offered to send out a tech, as if I have nothing better to do than allow those jerks to roam around my property.......particularly when it is obvious the signal problem is widespared. The billing office is two miles away.

The Food Channel has also disappeared - Channel 35. I went to their online Help and wrote back and forth with a couple of their people. They first said the new box would be free then the next person said it would cost. Went round and round and eventually I gave up. Then I called their help number and the person who answered had trouble figuring out what Channel 35 was. I gave up.
One thing they kept repeating: we are so anxious to help you! right.
