Dog euthanized after attacking 5-year-old boy

The dog that bit and seriously injured a 5-year-old boy on a Palo Alto playground Dec. 2 was euthanized Tuesday at the Palo Alto Animal Shelter at the request of its owner.

I dont understand was it 1 dog or 2? Mr.martin states that it was 2 pitbulls? I did see a picture of the 1 Australian Shepard mix that attacked the little boy but it looks nothing like a pit bull. I own an Australian Shepard and they could be twins. My prays are with the family and heroes.

Editor--why is that the stories/postings related to this almost year old story keep showing up, when you don't seem to have a glitch with other stories? Please fix this.

And Brian--no these dogs were not pitbulls. But of course any dog that bites is labelled a pitbull or the story wouldn't be newsworthy...

It took them that long to euthanize the dog? Thank god the little boy is safe physically; the emotional scars will stay with him for years to come ... what was the penalty for the owner?

The article mentions - at the request of the owner - isn't the city supposed to take over the animal in such cases? Where was the dog all along - with the owner?
