I live right next to the Cabana Hotel so I know I would have to put up w/noise. But it seems that the noise is increasing and occurs frequently at odd all hours of the day/night. I've been awaken at 2 or 3AM w/the noise of trucks loading equipment from a party they had earlier in the evening. This morning, Sunday morning, 6am two trucks drove up to unload equipment for an event that they must be having today.
I found that there is a noise ordinance for construction:
FOR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES
(includes any and all deliveries)
MONDAY-FRIDAY.......8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
SATURDAY......9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
But does anyone know how this would work for a residential property right next to a hotel?

Eileen asked a simple question: there are noise ordinances for construction which are reasonable, is it possible that there are (or should be) noise ordinances that cover other specific activities during night hours?

Keep it down---If there is a problem with noise, then perhaps Eileen should contact the hotel and talk with someone--if the problem persisits she should contact the police. Keeping a log of incidents would help also--to show that it is a chronic problem.

Close the hotel and the midtown safeway--they create too much traffic and too much noise. Then you can also deal with the other "too much traffic--too much noise problems in Palo Alto"--101 and Caltrain

Hi - I was glad to see responses, but also don't understand why portions or full comments were deleted. My first time on here. I did call the Cabana and asked them to close the door - it was a very simple solution. The front desk said they would ask the manager to see what they could do. I said my next call would be the police and she said "well if that's what you feel like you have to do." So not very helpful. Not very helpful the last time I called when they had some raging summer party. I guess I'll contact the city directly.

Full comments were deleted because they do not meet the high standards set by the PA Online editors or (usually) they are critical of comeone the editors wish to protect or they call attention to things in the city that the editors wish to keep under wraps (hint--PA is perfect, anything to the contrary is not good for business in PA)

Terry--sorry. i did post some, in my opinion, constructive advice near the beginning of the thread.
unfortunately, in writing you cannot really express any emotion--I am being semi-sarcastic and poking fun at the PA mentality of everything being about too much noise/too much traffic. residents of PA want tax revenue coming in, they want hotels which generate big tax revenue, they want shoppers and visitors in town spending money--all this requires there to be traffic and a certain amount of noise. you cannot have it both ways--always complaining about noise/traffic but wanting tax revenue/visitors/shoppers in town.

Close, I think those are some fair points and I agree that there are some people in PA like that. My guess is that Eileen just wants the darn hotel to keep its doors shut, though ;-)
Eileen, make sure you talk directly to the General Manager. The front desk people probably don't have much authority and/or haven't been trained on dealing with neighborhood people. The problem will probably repeat, but my guess is they'll be more careful.

Another suggestion - if you can - take the time to meet with the general manager in person - be warm and friendly - bring the office a gift - and make the effort to make a personal connection with the general manager at the hotel - if you do holiday cards put them on your holiday card list - do whatever is reasonable for you to build a relationship with the hotel so that they will be more likely to hear your complaint and take action for you on your behalf.
