NSA surveillance bad for business in the valley?

Original post made by Tibt, Crescent Park, on Jun 12, 2013

Do you think that Facebook, Google, Yahoo etc may locate more of their business in another country if the NSA has managed to scare people away from using their websites?

These companies don't care --- are you crazy?!!?

All their responses in the last week have been vague, things like we don't "directly" give the NSA info, etc..

They're not moving because of this. How do I know?

All their private emails said so.... now, about that email you sent late the other night... we've got a couple questions.... also: why did you google 'pressure cooker' after Boston?

These companies dont want to have to do this. The NSA and CIA have been in the Silicon Valley from the outset. This now is just a bad publicity.
It will be very bad for Facebook as many of their users are at the lower end of the education scale and this may be news to them. Google users who do search wont stop searching, however Facebook uses may wake up and get scared to use it.
So bad for Facebook. Not so bad for Google.

I have. Even aware of the NSA in Sillycon Valley for about twenty years. The CIA have been here almost since Lockheed's inception.

They are not going away anytime soon.
