Good News for Gunn's Counseling Services

Over 1200 students in the freshmen, sophomore and junior classes took the survey. While we know there is much work to do, we are happy to see in our small survey that we have taken strides in improving our services.

Here are a couple of key highlights we feel very proud to see improvement in relation to how freshmen feel about our services. On each of them we are showing the percentage of students who answered either "strongly agree" or "agree."

I consider my counselor to be a valuable resource.

I feel comfortable going to an adult about personal issues that I might be struggling with.

My counselor can help with supporting me if I'm feeling generally stressed.
2012 2013

Where's WCDBPA? Kind of silent. Takes the wind out of their sail.

I think it's safe to say they're "doing better."

I am just wondering if this PR is what we got for our $150K .... I don't doubt the test results published but I do suspect that there is possibly more to the story.

@Gunn student - It is pleasantly surprising to see a student starting this thread during Spring Break.
@Barron Park Parent - I do not know if 150k PR was hired. In any case, check this: Web Link

I see that the job description lists degree fields including "marketing" and one of the job's core objectives is "promote a community climate of support for the district."

So we are paying for the wool and paying for it to be pulled over our own eyes.

This is a new low for public school governance.

@Don Draper - Thank you for checking the link I listed. Sometimes, details are the eye opener. You mentioned a sample from this link.
Here - just another reinforcement, added to many many, many prior. Systemic issues, the excellent editorial mentioned.
Transparency? Accountability?
Sadly, seems that the gift - info of the OCR investigation, given to the community by the family coming forward to the weekly, left no real impact. Seems that an objective investigation/audit is not about to happen, systemic issues not really identified, addressed.
