At least they haven't hurt anybody--physically. I hope some program of rehabilitation might stop escalation. Maybe thee 's hope for them--and us.

Only hope for us is that they remain locked up, or are otherwise permanently removed from society.

Not sure my lead would have been that "two young men" were arrested when, in a subsequent paragraph, you identify the younger suspect as a "16-year-old juvenile."

A juvenile is a juvenile. A juvenile is not, in the eyes of the law, a young man.

Any 16-year-old still has a lot to learn. Surely we all hope that this one will make a better life for himself.

Steve - Better to pay to incarcerate armed criminals than have them out committing violent crimes.

Personally, I don't believe it is possible to rehabilitate someone who engages in violent crimes. Forget the "kid" part - by the time you're about 6 years old, you pretty much know that it's not OK to point guns at people and steal their belongings.

The only way to deal with such criminals is to remove them from society.

Armed robbery- try the 16 year old as an adult and keep him locked up until the trial. Enough of this left wing justice letting him out to commit more crimes.

And they have not hurt anybody- YET.

Many crimes are commited by juviniles because they know they wont do much jail time, even if they shoot someone. The older gangsters have these minors do these crimes for them. They should be punished much harder then they are currently being. Sometimes they just get released to their parents who don't give a %^$# and are back on the streets to commit more crimes.
