With burglaries on the uptick throughout Palo Alto in 2012, Crescent Park stands out among the most targeted neighborhoods. In the past year, burglars struck 26 times, plus another 30 in nearby Duveneck/St. Francis, according to Palo Alto police.

Didn't Tiburon install a license plate tracking system so they could record exactly who was entering their city and when? If the Palo Alto city government is too wimpy to build a system like this, there is nothing to stop an enterprising company from doing it. Just rent space from residents so all the cameras are on private property. Aim them at public spaces (like streets) where no one has an expectation of privacy. Install enough cameras so that all the roads in to town are covered. Then take photos of every car coming and going and record the license plate numbers and dates/times forever. If anyone ever wants the data for any purpose, sell it to them for a profit. This is a private enterprise, after all.

It makes sense that Crescent Park is targeted.....the richest people live there, the most expensive homes are there, and it butts up against EPA. There is easy access and easy getaway by burglars. I would never live there regardless of the prestige, just because the crime is so bad. One would think that alone would badly affect the property values.
