Chi-Chang Kao named new director of SLAC

An associate laboratory director at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has been named as the lab's fifth director, Stanford University President John Hennessy announced Wednesday.

I hope the new director will cut out the dead weight and there is a lot of it at SLAC in my opionion. Those are our tax dollars. I've done research there for years and the expenditures and wasteful ops spending is disgusting to me. Clean out leadership, too. The COOs office is particularly fat with waste from where I stand.

Why is someone who is not even a citizen of the US being allowed to run SLAC?

Anon, how do you know he's not a citizen? That said, you do know that there are a lot of university-based labs in the US run by non-citizens who likely only have their Green Cards? I don't know if they can run a lab w/out a Green Card - maybe they don't even have those.

He would've had a thorough background check, if that's what you're worried about.
