Stanford moves up in Directors' Cup standings

After winning the past 18 straight titles, Stanford is battling some stiff competition in this year's Division I Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. The Cardinal was fifth in the previous standings, but since has moved up to third.

What is the "FCS National Championship?"

It would have made it easier to understand this story if the writer (and editor) had explained what the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was, instead of waiting for the penultimate paragraph.
