seeking recommendation for beginner middle school volleyball program

Original post made by question on Nov 5, 2012

I am wondering whether anyone has pointer for good beginner volleyball program for middle school students. Ideally within Palo Alto, could be classes, camp,or youth athletic program for recreational purposes.

It does not have to be competitive, in fact, better not.

Developmental volleyball is offered for grades 3-5. Teams are formed beginning 6th grade.

Club volleyball tryouts are the first weekend in November each year so they were this past weekend.

Club volleyball season is January to May.

Clubs offer clinics in the summertime but not during club season.

Palo Alto Elite is known to take beginners. They are not as competitive of a club as other volleyball clubs. Web Link

I don't know of any actual non-competitive volleyball clubs. There is no AYSO for volleyball.

I forgot about Aurora Volleyball Club, which is in Los Altos. The director is really nice. Their teams are not competitive even though they attend tournaments: Web Link

Stanford has a summer program for kids in volleyball, but that is a long way off. Worth keeping in mind, though.

This is a new volleyball club. Based upon the coaches, I can guarantee most of the players are going to be new to the sport. These coaches only have recreational coaching experience (so don't expect much) and Jordan volleyball teams often win championships simply due to the talent. They are offering tryouts this Friday, 11/16 and it's at a convenient location in Palo Alto.
