looking for recipe sauce for hamburgers from Harry's
Around Town, posted by barbara, a resident of the Greenmeadow neighborhood, on Aug 9, 2007 at 2:52 pm

My family moved to Palo Alto in 1952 and have lived in the area off and on all these past years. I have been obsessing about a sauce served at Harry's Hamburger which was in whiskey gulch . It was eventually changed to Jerry's hamburgers. It was on University avenue just by the freeway. The family that owned it at one time was Louis and my sisters went to Paly with Tony Louis who has since passed away and I believe she had a brother John Louis.

The sauce is a tomato base with a distinct flavor of celery seed. It may have had some pickle in it. They put it on the hamburger plus we always ask for a small dish to dip our french fries in. I have such fond memories of Harry's and this sauce and have tried to duplicate the sauce without any luck.

If anyone has any information about where I could find a recipe for the sauce I would really appreciate it. I was happy to just discover this web sight and enjoy reading all the tid bits about the wonderful town of Palo Alto. A great place to live and grow up
