Uh, Hi Stanford PR dept? Yah, Hi.
Do you know how badly you're looking now for not working something out to accommodate this event? You know, its the one that pumps nearly 2 million into local charities? Yah, same one that also makes yearly donations to your Scholarship fund.
You might want to take another look at this one. The local TV news hawks just LOOOVE this kind of story. Probably want to bone up on damage control regardless.

That $2 million figure that "Uh-Oh" posted is an eye catcher, but the article actually says the amount is less than $2 million total over 47 years. That averages out to only $37K per year. For that amount, maybe it is not worth Stanford's costs in traffic, pollution, and congestion.

Having worked at Stanford for twelve years, I know they make a lot of bad decisions. Many, many of those bad decisions have been bought and paid for by wealthy alumni. Considering how much they annoy and put out the surrounding community of Palo Alto, which they claim to be a part of, one would think they would put more value in good PR. But, no, money talks.

The event used to take place on the fields along El Camino Real. But it was moved over by Sand Hill Road because Stanford developed those fields into what is now their soccer stadium, rugby stadium, etc.
I could be wrong, but I believe where the event is now held is where the future new hospital will be built. If I'm right about that, then I suspect that Stanford doesn't want to give a long-term agreement for obvious reasons.

Before addressing some of the postings please be aware
The press release from the Concours d'Elegance was not released to cause grief for Stanford University or their decision makers but to raise awareness that we have to move, we can't find a new location and would love to remain on the Stanford campus if at all possible. As far as we're concerned Stanford was/is our home and they were very supportive and generous to us, just in having us there.
It is also very important to understand that the Concours was able to return money donated to our charities because of the combined efforts made by us, Stanford by allowing us to be on their fields, sponsors, businesses and car entries.
In response to cars being in a parking lot: The Palo Alto Concours is a sanctioned Sports Car Club of American event which have rules we must abide by. One being that cars be on grass. If we could be on pavement, that in itself would eliminate a major problem for us in looking for a new location.
In regard to other possible venues: We have contacted over 50 alternative locations from Redwood City to Santa Clara, including colleges, jr colleges, high schools, golf courses, county clubs, Moffet Field etc., but for a multitude of various reasons, nothing works either because of our needs or meeting their requirements.
In response to what it costs Stanford for security, traffic, etc.: The Concours is billed by Stanford for 99.99%-maybe 100% of the services provided and we PAY FOR ALL of it.
Perhaps, when you do the math, we don't give as much as we'd like to,to individual charities, but when you receive no money, $100.00 to $300 is to some like what $10,000 is to others---a lot.
What no one has alluded to, is the educational and historical value the Concours brings to the community.
Without Stanford or a new location last year may very have been the Concours' last year!
If you want to support our effort, please don't berate Stanford University on this or any other page. Support us by emailing them or calling them to say the Concours is a very important part of our community please reconsider your decision and allow they back on your campus. Nothing comes from negativity but more negativity.

I don't expect the Concours d'Elegance to stay in Mountain View for long, just until a new sit can be found. Keeping it is far more important then where, we can see some great cars, raise some money while we are having fun and know that we are going something really great.
