Cyclist hit by car?

Original post made by Annie, Midtown, on Sep 26, 2012

I heard that a cyclist was hit by a car at the intersection of Oregon and Bryant this morning (9/26/12) at about 7am. Does anyone have information about what happened and whether the cyclist is OK?

I drove by the incident. I didn't see it happen, but there was a car with a busted windshield and the man was laying on the ground unconscious. The situation didn't look good, but a lot of people were pulling over to assist, thankfully. Haven't been able to find any news reports on this.

Where exactly did this happen? In the middle of the intersection? Or on Bryant immediately north or south of the intersection?

Bryant is designed to be a safe bicycling route, but the intersection with Oregon is dangerous because Bryant is narrow with lots of parallel parked cars and there is heavy car traffic turning on and off of the expressway.

I hope the bicyclist is OK. I could not find any entry for this incident in the police log.

I'm not sure if it was exactly on Bryant--I wasn't able to get a glimpse of the street name--but it was right before the overpass to transition into Page Mill Rd.

That's surprising that there aren't any police reports on was a pretty severe accident. Made me sick to my stomach to see the man laying there lifeless with blood and broken glass everywhere.

Do not be surprised that there is no police report on the Police Blotter for this. I have not seen reports on several crimes and incidents over the years,. . Even when there were plenty of witnesses. Sometimes the report does not get filed for several days, sometimes not at all.

I once lived in a town with a corrupt police department, where they would claim to have apprehended a suspect, yet there would be no record on file of a report, or an investigation, or a booking. I truly hope that is. Of the case in Palo Alto, but it sure isn't looking good.
