Please stop censorship

Original post made by Leonard S., Duveneck/St. Francis, on Aug 3, 2007

Palo Alto Online, you are going too far with your censorship. I have little doubt this topic will soon be deleted by you, never to be seen again. Too often I find comments that though they contain no profanity or otherwise obscene content are quickly erased as if they never existed by PA Online. God forbid somebody could be offended or have their feelings hurt by a comment! PA Online, please stop stepping all over Palo Alto's reputation by practicing unchecked censorship. Remember when the whole world was laughing at Palo Alto because city council tried to forbid facial expressions so as not to hurt anybody's feelings? thats not the kind of America I live in. Please stop trampling all over Palo Alto's fine reputation and our citizens rights to speech.

Leonard S.:

A few weeks ago, the moderators made it clear the all topics regarding Israel are forbidden and will be deleted.

And here we are embroiled in wars all over the Middle East and on the verge of attacking Iran, and discussing Israel is verboten.

You'd think in this day and age, the community would refuse to tolerate such medieval, anti-Hellenistic tactics.

Censorship is a government act. Editing is a publisher's act.

Fussing over euphamisms will get you nowhere.

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund

For the last 23 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away more than $4 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. When you make a donation, every dollar is automatically doubled, and 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
