Picture this: 2012 Weekly Photo Contest winners

The Weekly's annual photo contest turns 21 this year, but it's by no means limited to adults. As in years past, both adult and youth photographers have entered their top images: portraits, local views and photos brought back from beyond the Bay Area.

Wonderful images, all of them. Congratulations! I especially liked "Abandoned" by Tim Aiken. Really, really beautiful.

Great photos, but this contest would be a lot more user-friendly if it were restricted to non-professional photographers. Isn't the point to encourage community participation, not to provide ad copy for professionals?
