Lawrence Viariseo has survived falling off a 100-foot cliff and breaking his back, paralysis from the waist down and bladder cancer. At 53, the Palo Alto native is voluntarily embarking on another challenge -- a 100-mile bike trip to raise money for cancer research.

this shows some humanity in someone from palo alto. too bad there are so many heartless individuals. go to your synagogue or church to find people who may actually display that they have heart

I grew up in South Palo Alto as a best friend to Larry's sister Janice. My heart is broken that such a wonderful human being has lost his fight. It's especially hard for those of us who have ourselves received the dreaded news that we have "cancer." I will comfort his sister and believe he is now an angel.
