Palo Alto will soon have a new leader in its Human Resources Department -- a veteran attorney whose experience with labor relations includes stints at Kaiser Permanente, Alcoa, and Goodrich Aerospace.

She looks like a highly competent professional who will protect the interests of the taxpayers. Having worked in the private sector she knows that the ultimate accountability of top management is to the shareholders. She also understands that workers cannot be exploited and must be treated fairly, And finally she understand the concept of market based wages and benefits.
