Guest Opinion: Creating their own fields of dreams

Original post made on Jan 19, 2012

I envy those who can sleep on airplanes.

Recently, on a trip to New Zealand, a young man on the other side of the aisle from my seat fell asleep even before take off. Subsequntly, the pilot announced that there would be a delay as a fuel pump was not working. Several hours later, the pilot announced that the flight was cancelled and the plane would leave the next day. The young man was then awakened and was startled to find that, no, he wasn't half way to Auckland, but he had never left the S.F. airport. Everyone laughed at his surprise.
