Why do they allow wood burning at all? I don't understand that.

Mayfield restaurant produces a lot of smoke,
maybe it's woodchips?

As a retired physician and a person with asthma I endorse the recommendation (Fairmeadow) to ban wood-burning ALL the time.

It's no fun having to struggle to breathe these days, and to be confined indoors. What may have been comforting in the past when there were no alternatives, and a source of cozy memories for many, is now a threat to the health of 5-10% of children and adults in our communities. Now that there are safer alternatives concern for the public health demands that we ban use of all existing wood-burning fireplaces.

During the winter, there is so much burning in southern Palo Alto that the neighborhood smells like it is on fire on sunny days. Is the rest of the city any better?
