Saturday car accident on Embarcadero and Louis Crimes & Incidents, posted by Why?, a resident of the Barron Park neighborhood, on Sep 19, 2011 at 11:17 pm
I came across a 3 car accident on my way to the Main Library.
There were total of 6 police cars(one supervisor SUV), 2 fire trucks, 3 ambulances, and 2 EMTs. As far as I can tell, only one minor injury- she was taken by ambulance fairly quickly. Not that I don't appreciate help; Just wondering why we need so many police cars, ambulances, etc and for at least a couple of hours? Aren't we over-doing this?

You claim it was a 3-car accident; they might need 3 ambulances. There are other more important things to complain about.
Half Moon Bay doesn't even have its own police department:
"The city, struggling to close a long-term budget deficit, is disbanding its 12-member force and outsourcing the job of law enforcement to either Pacifica, its neighbor 14 miles to the north, or the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office." Web Link

Heard that the accident involved 5 cars with 3 minor injuries. One of the parties was taken to the hospital. The call was originally reported as one individual with a head injury and one of the vehicles leaking gas. It didn't sound like there were 3 ambulances. A paratransit ambulance from Stanford was in the area and stopped to help. PAFD's Rescue 2 was there in addition to a PAFD Medic unit. I guess Rescue 2 could look like an ambulance if were paying attention to the road and not the accident. Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt.

How can there possibly be a 5 car crash on a 25mph street? Did one maniac crash into 4 other cars? Or did multiple reckless drivers crash into each other? The whole point of driving 25mph is to give you enough time to avoid crashes.

I was a part of the 5 car accident on Saturday. The police, fire trucks, and ambulances reported to the scene very fast and took care of things very professionally. But I agree, it did seem like overdoing it for a few minor injuries.
