This is sad. I remember well the heyday of movies in Palo Alto, when we had the Varsity and the Bijou as repertory houses. I saw lots of great older and foreign movies at those venues. Of course, the Guild, the Aquarius and Palo Alto Square were doing newer movies. Any movie house that closes for any period of time is a loss.

I was just planning on seeing the "Barney's Version" movie, too bad, I'll have to see it somewhere else. I'm surprised the Guild survives. I don't want it to close, but it is the hardest place to park for, and the interior and seats are pretty bad, the prices are just as high.
