Palo Alto family tries to adopt one child, gets two
It's not a situation most couples are prepared to face: an overseas adoption attempt that garners not one but two children from countries at opposite ends of the world. Photos and audio/visual slide show by Norbert von der Groeben

I have some friends who had this happen about 20 years ago, though they were adopting in the U.S. They had had an adoption fall through with a California-based mother the year before, so when they got a call from a birth mother in another state, they went for it.
Then another California birth mom contacted them. They decided to go ahead with both adoptions, assuming one would fall through. Well, neither of them did, and they ended up with two babies just a few weeks apart in age.
It's been fun to watch these kids grow up. My best wishes to the family featured in the article.
