It was 40 yrs ago today, Sgt. Pepper's Band began to play.....

It was 40 years ago today that Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band was released. I have so many Beatle related memories that are intertwined with my life. It may be nostalgic, but sometimes being nostalgic does us some good, particularly here on Town Square. So let's share some Beatle memories.

I remember the album appearing at school although I did hear it on the radio first. I was amazed at the costumes on the sleeve and all the faces, trying to work out who they were! I did see the Beatles on tv when they were at the London Palladium all dressed in these outfits, but they were in black and white of course.

I love the music and I am now amazed that the Paly choir is singing at the Baccalaureate "Let it Be". What a turnround and what an honor. And do the teenagers today know what outrage this was way back when it first came out?

My parents really disapproved of my interest in the Beatles and I had to hide all my pics and posters while I listened to the pop music stations on my "trannie". Now, my Mother actually enjoys listening to the music. I can't stand some of the music my kids listen to and I wonder if any of that will be around in 40 years' time and if I will enjoy listening to it then.

I love the Beatles and my kids have grown up with their music. They know most of the songs as well as I do. We used to play the cds on long car journeys and just sang along. Their favorites, Yellow Submarine and Ob La Di, Ob La Da.
