Nasty Stench this morning

Does anyone know what caused a nasty stench (like a sewage pipe burst or that which comes from a dumpster) this morning? I could feel it near Adobe Creek, on Middlefield and it was felt as far as downtown Palo Alto. It seems to have been there a couple of days ago too.
