We saw lots of school kids out on Middlefield Road by Addison when the presidential entourage finally rolled by. Surprised by the level of military, CHP in addition to the PAPD, but I think the school kids along the route got a thrill, and it looked like President Obama had his window down to wave back. This was about 615 pm.

I left Palo Alto at about 5:45 and was able to get to 101 via Embarcadero. There were lots of families lining Embarcadero waiting for the President. I was northbound on 101 when they shut down the southbound lanes and blocked all exits and then the motorcade appeared with police, white vans, ambulance and a black SUV with the President in the backseat with his window down, in full view. No matter what your politics, it was a very exciting moment!

Fairly lengthy motorcade rolled down Embarcadero Rd by Heather Lane where there were a bunch of us standing there. Two SUVs that looked presidential, I wasn't sure WHICH one the President was in. Is this for decoy purposes?

I'd particularly like to hear some of the impressions of the youngsters and teenagers who got a glimpse or met Obama -- and especially seeing some images of the drawings of the kids posted to Palo Alto Online's Photo Gallery. -jay

Not much talk about the Giants tonight, huh!!!
Hang in there!!
I gave up going to see President Obama arrive for dinner down the street from where I used to live... I had a great idea brewing that I didn't follow up on...I was going to get a halloween mask of the President Obama and dress up, stand outside of the house where he was at and charge only a few dollars to have people have their pictures taken with ME!!
The Giants game lasted too long tho...only a few straggling people and few cars driving by, some stoping like myself to check the decor out. There were three girls that were walking by, they stopped and took a picture of the house. I spoke out my window to them " It's just about like Christmas Tree Lane", which they quicky responded "YES"! with a smile...Then the caters opened up the garage doors and were beginning to load up their carts and such into a large van that just pulled up to the driveway. Don't know what was served that night for dinner, only imagining~no I can't! ~what a $30,000 dinner plate serving would consist of....hummm, use your imagination! Must have been SOOOOOOO good as the plates looked like they were all licked clean....:) and I didn't see anyone with a doggie bag :)
The house was lit up tonight, it was cool, as far as Halloween goes~ HUGE black cat lit up on the roof, mechanical monster with a knife at the front entry up on the porch and a HUGE pumpkin in their yard (enough to make a years worth of pumpkin pies!). I know Obama was to get $1,500. if he stood still long enough to let someone take a picture of he and you together.....I like competition! It's the American way <3 <3
