I grew up in the 60's when the Beatles were unbelievable. The artistic shift that they made from their early works to their later opuses is just incredible.
What I find interesting, and moving, is that the kids of the next generation seem to venerate the Beatles as much as people in my cohort did at the time. They clearly dominated the popular music genre for a number of years.
Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, others of an even earlier era still stand the test of time. As will Lennon and McCartney.
