The Need for Real Education Leadership
Schools & Kids, posted by Rod Hsiao, a resident of another community, on May 17, 2010 at 9:50 pm

Recent articles on 21st Assembly District candidates have emphasized hype over results. But on June 8th we need to elect a legislator with real experience and accomplishments.

In education, Rich Gordon is the only candidate who has actually worked as a trustee, funder, and direct service provider: Rich shaped education policy as a Trustee, steered $82 million of Prop 10 tobacco taxes into education, opened the county's first shelter for homeless youth, and started up an innovative restaurant to employ youth.

We need stable funding for schools and someone who understands budgeting. As a county supervisor managing a $1.8 billion budget, Rich Gordon successfully pushed for performance based budgeting to get concrete results. He understands how to reform government systems and was elected chair of the coalition of California Cities, Counties, and Schools to press for state budget reform.

We need a tested leader to fix California—the right choice on June 8th is Rich Gordon.
