They had advanced reservations thru a travel agent and had gotten what seemed to be a great deal with lots of perks. Things went ok..they met up with other kids their age and all partied, as expected, took motorcycle trips and drove their own boats on near by island..drank and whooped it up at clubs.
They were "fined" by "the police" for sitting out on the beach "after hours"..a curfew they knew nothing about. That incident cost them $250 cash, given to "the police"...who they actually think were imposters, but were afraid to push the subject for fear of being put in jail as they were threatened if they didn't pay up ~"RIGHT THEN".
Then to top it off, on last day there, they had an earlier plane flight than their neighbors in the next room, who left their rooms to eat their last dinner before boarding their plane to return home. When they got back to the shady hotel, their friends found EVERYTHING in their room was GONE, except for their passports.
They had problems with the door locking when they first got there and the hotel did not fix it properly (so they found out). They think it was an "inside job"as their sliding glass door that overlooked the ocean was also broken. Obviously the trip ended in disaster for them and as all their memories were in the camera of the good times they did have ~ the camera was now gone.
Glad your daughter and her friends are keeping the money flowing in the USA...
