The Bogliolis and I arrived in Vancouver this morning at 9:00am, after breezing through the USA/Canada border without any delays at all. Our apartment landlord was waiting for us, and we dropped our bags and immediately headed off to the USA House for a VIP donor reception. This place is a great resource, with great food, conference rooms, internet access and lots of Olympians and their families. It might be more fun to hang out there, than to attend some of the events.
I was invited to address the reception and to thank the donors for their contributions, but the real treat was to have the chance to hear Donna Weinbrecht (1992 gold medalist in the moguls) and Nastia Liukin (2008 gold medalist in the Gymnastics All-around). I am always impressed by the humility and articulate nature of most Olympians. Donna and Nastia were no exception.
We also had the chance to visit the World Olympians Reunion Center, and tonight we attend a reception in honor of Jacques Rogge, the President of the IOC.
It seems like there are parties are everywhere!
