AT&T cell tower problem
Around Town, posted by Al F., a resident of Stanford, on Jan 30, 2010 at 10:16 am

We no longer can make or receive cell calls from our home between Page Mill and Stanford Ave. I've called AT&T often. They report a "degraded" cell tower "near" Page Mill and El Camino having a problem that began on 1/19/10...during the storm I guess. Repair-complete estimates have not been met and the reps cannot give good info on the nature of the problem and the time to repair. I've requested a call-back from a local repair person who can give definitive answers about when this will be fixed and rate relief in the interim.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

There's an AT&T store at the corner of Page Mill and El Camino. Pretty funny if the store has no AT&T service right now. You would think that AT&T has some incentive to fix that problem.

We need to declare cell towers an essential public safety service, not subject to public discussion. Just try to object to a fire hydrant on your street and see how far you get. I would not object to require competitors to share towers.

Please keep the cities fingers out of this pie.

There are plenty of alternatives.

Another carrier and traditional Wireline service.

People chose A T & T's lousy service

Disclosure: I own A T & T shares

It's all Steve Jobs' fault. If it weren't for him, no one would use AT&T and no one would complain about the service quality. I wonder if he gets AT&T service at his house?

Did you hear what his buddy the Woz had to say about his iphone? Web Link
