Accident on California and Hanover Thursday evening
Crimes & Incidents, posted by Wondering, a resident of the College Terrace neighborhood, on Jan 15, 2010 at 12:23 pm

While driving home on Thursday evening, there were a lot of police cars and fire trucks at the corner of California and Hanover. Does anyone know what happened?

A pedestrian was hit by a car. PAFD wanted to use a BLS unit instead of an ambulance, but BLS was already off duty.

The injuries were not major enough for a full medic unit.

That's another intersection where car drivers regularly ignore the stop signs. Anyone else think that all the blockaded roads in this neighborhood just encourage car drivers to speed and ignore the stop signs?

It also funnels cars onto narrow streets that can't handle the load. See the other thread about pedestrians getting run down on Stanford Ave.

I drive at the intersection at least once a day. I do NOT see people running the stop signs. Bicycles, yes, but they do that everywhere. If Hanover were to be unblocked at California Ave., there would be some very serious stop sign running.

Are you really from College Terrace? You don't seem to have any local knowledge.
