The Grant Road Open Space Fights Not Over; Please Join Our Cause!
Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Daniel Mart, a resident of Mountain View, on Nov 7, 2009 at 10:11 am

Hi you all,

Please join our cause to preserve and protect the over-century-old open space on Grant Road in Mountain View, one of our last remaining patches of natural wilderness:

Web Link

Developers have so much money; they basically use the status quo to say "screw you" to the public. Public hearings on housing and hotel developments are a joke, as the developer already knows that they've won; there is just so much money in these types of developments, and city governments are too cowardly and special-interest-serving to stand up to for the greater good.

The status quo "has to change."

And anyway ... nobody is even buying houses now! And San Jose is currently seeing a record amount of empty office space!

The fight is not over.

Peace

Giving up on the bowling alley fight, huh?

If there is no demand for new homes in the area, this Grant Road property must be cheap. How much will it cost? Maybe hold a bake sale to raise funds?

No ... the alley cause has over 2300 supports and over 700 petition signers. And over just several months.

Do you want to buy this property and convert it to a park? Do you want someone else to buy it? Who even owns it right now and what do they want to do with it?

I already responded to that a while back, so won't bother to reiterate.

If you don't support us, nbd; it's perfectly alright. :)

You sound like Al Gore unwilling to explain your position or even debate.

As a tax payer living in the city of Mountain View anything that may cost me money in the from of taxes is 100% open for a clear and fair debate.
