As everyone knows there has been a recent spike in violence in East Palo Alto. But people should also know that a number of young East Palo Alto community activists have come together as East Palo Alto Peace and Unity and have been formulating a constructive response: a large march and rally for peace and unity on Saturday, February 3rd from 10am to 2pm. The marchers will assembe at 10am in the Home Depot parking lot at Clarke and East Bayshore.
EPA Peace and Unity organizers are seeking residents of Palo Alto and other nearby communities who will come to stand with them in solidarity.
Problems of crime, drugs and violence, especially as they involve youth, impact the entire society and have dynamics beyond the usually low-income neighborhoods where the symptoms manifest. Please come to support your neighbors in East Palo Alto.

I want to applaud you. It sometimes seems that people on here care more about bashing Israel, the President and America than they do about the terrible tragedy happening on the other side of 101.

2 of the 3 homicides happened WEST of 101, just a couple blocks from University Ave & not far from Newell Rd.
Yes, we deserve to live in peace. That means that the parents of these kids killing each other have to take responsibility for how they raise their kids. They are responsible for what their minors do. Innocent people can get hurt and killed, too. Thus far, the majority of the homicides are related to other crime problems. These issues are beyond the scope of the police, FBI, NTF and other law enforcement agencies.
Many of EPAs residents, such as myself, work in Palo Alto and surrounding cities, so we have a connection to places other than our own neighborhoods. I relate more to people in Palo Alto than EPA because EPA residents are not taking responsibility for their role with youth and are in denial about a great many things. They don't just lie to the media and other outsiders; they lie to themselves and each other about how violent their kids are and what their kids are really up to.
Why did the 18 year old killed last Sun. never go to school here in the US? He was only 15 when he came here. Was he illegal and too scared, or just uninterested and directed to go to school?
Typically, kids in low income areas kill each other and kids in higher income areas kill themselves. The mising Stanford student who likely committed suicide is one example; the murder of these 2 young ganbangers is another.
