Horses need to be banned on peninsula trails Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Bret, a resident of the Professorville neighborhood, on Jan 18, 2007 at 8:34 pm
I did a couple long runs in Huddart, Phelger and Wunderlich parks this week and almost twisted an ankle a couple times in the hoof shaped mud holes. There are mosquito ridden mud areas throughout that are obviously caused by horses. Also there is horse poop all over the place, even surrounding creek crossings. Everytime I come across a horse and rider, the beast appears to be freaked out and ready to buck. I'd hate to see someone hurt or killed. It is time to ban these animals from our parks that are close to urban areas. They are a nuisance.

I heard similar comments about bikes on the trails. The users should assemble and determine what operating rules work, and then try for voluntary compliance
