The pictures posted are not nearly enough for me to get my fill of the old time Palo Alto flavor!! I really would like to know the cross streets of these establishments...I assume most all are demolished..I ate brunch in Dinahs the day before they closed her down..It's too bad it had to go, I would have liked to had my children experience the atmosphere, the great service..not to mention the bountiful delicious meals........................Thanks for posting, hopefully there will be more!!!!!!!!!!

I grew up in Los Trancos Woods. My parents were one of the first 1900 to become a member of Co-op. We shopped in the Palo Alto and then Menlo Park Co-op until they closed. I still really miss Co-op to this day. They were the only grocery store that would put the not as good side up when packing their meat. It would still look good and you knew the other side would be even better. Their prices were fair, the people friendly. You felt part of the store.

We went there during the time of Chavez, leading lettuce and grape workers to go union for liveable wages. They made customers aware of the struggle by putting up signs by the produce. I liked that they were socially responsible and made their customers aware and then choose to boycott buying those items or continue to purchase them. Many people chose to boycott during that time. I feel old - lol, thinking of the good old days!

This is how growing up in San Francisco for four generations prior to myself, we found Palo Alto to be. Charming, and unassuming.

With wonderful Latino families nearby.
