Service now better at Cafe ASophia? Restaurants, posted by DineWithoutWhine, a resident of Menlo Park, on Dec 3, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Is it just me, or does service seem better at Cafe Sophia? It's one of my favorite restaurants, but service has always been spotty. I saw some reviews on Yelp pointing this out and now it seems service is better. Anyone have an opinion to share?

I love Cafe Sophis possibly because Sophia and her husband Dwane are freinds. Yes, Sophia always does her best for her regular customers. Her help is very often family members, her son, her future daughter-in-law. Don't forget that this is a Mom and Pop business and reliable help is hard to find let alone keep, but Sophia always does her best.

What a clever way to get some free advertising for this restaurant, claiming that their service has improved by an anonymous diner is probably cheaper than putting an advert in the Weekly.

I don't know about before but I hav eeaten lunch there twice in the last month and they have been lovely and attentive but not annoying, gracious, and served delicious food at a reasonable price. I'm a big fan!

I am not affiliated with Cafe Sophia in any way, beyond being a customer. Since they are so popular locally, I thought this would be a good place to post my question.

Sophia's service may be slower than at other local restaurants, but remember all the cooking is done on the premises. If you want fast food, pre-cooked dinners thrown in a microwave Cafe Sophia is not for you. If you care to relax and wait for great food cooked to order right there, you will love meals prepared by Sophia.

I like to try to support local places, and the food is pretty good at this cafe, but service? it surely could not be worse. I have ordered lunch there many times and the order goes to the back room and when someone feels like getting up and moving they finally get to it. Maybe its cultural, but i don't go there unless i can burn time up waiting because it is good food and they are nice people.
