Seniors IRA Alert
Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Mary, a resident of the Duveneck/St. Francis neighborhood, on Oct 10, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Seniors over 70 1/2 LISTEN UP. We all must take out the 'required minimum distribution" in our IRA's and pay tax on it next April. The deadline for this withdrawal, as you well know, is this December 31st. BUT the amount we must take out is based on the amount in our accounts LAST DECEMBER 31ST.

PLEASE consider calling or e-mailing your congressional representative to

1) Cancel this required distribution for this year or at least

2) Base it on some other arbitrary date , e.g. the IRA value as of December 1, 2008.

Phone numbers for our congressional representatives are in the front of your phone book.

Haven't you had all year to take this out?
