There was a robbery at the University Ave. Caltrain station recently. Are the Palo Alto train stations especially dangerous places compared to the rest of the city? Or are a couple of incidents statistically insignificant?

More security cameras needed.

If you go to the report data the the Mercury News has Web Link
it looks like downtown Palo Alto has had something of a cluster of crimes over the the past month; notably more assaults in particular. I don't see that it has anything to do with the Caltrain station, except that Caltrain stops downtown.

please note that this incident is not necessarily related to the train station. she was walking under the tracks in the underpass that is essentially the underground part of Ca Ave.

A second robbery was just reported on California Avenue near the tunnel. I don't know if the second women was a train passenger or not, but either way we do need to step up security in this area. This area can get pretty dark at night since the nearby park has no lights and the street lights on California Avenue are very dim.
