Tour of California won't visit Palo Alto next year

Although a sprint through town kicked off this year's race, Palo Alto is not a stop on next year's Tour of California bike race, race presenter AEG announced today.

I am disappointed that the race will not be visiting Palo Alto next year. Maybe we can get some amateur races instead? I remember a nice race along California Avenue a few years ago.

It was a cool event, for sure. But really, there weren't all THAT MANY people there...

It was a very nice spectator event for my entire family underscoring the vibrancy and appeal of Palo Alto. Also, it appeals to the local subculture of cycling as a sport. However, the revenues posted are surprisingly low for all the effort.

Could it be that they are not coming back because some of the local leaders were appearin to hog the spotlight and take the focus away from the riders. We know that many ofour council members never miss an opportunity to get their pictures in the papers

What a shame! It was so much fun and excitement. A different route each year? That sounds like a polite excuse.
