That's an interesting topic for a discussion. Could you tell us more? I'm guessing you have an idea of the reason why you cannot wear these brands. For instance, it could be the price.

Hmmm Everyone wears them. My daughter definitely does not wear them. She could buy them herself if she chose to spend her hard earned cash (babysitting) or saving up her allowance, but she chooses to use her money on something she would much rather have. Also, we have looked at some of these brands, they don't look as if they will hold up to washing more than a couple of times before the seams come out and the color fades. Believe me, she knows that the right place to shop for her clothes is where she gets value for money (and can talk me into buying her the latest styles without the designer label).

I'm an ignoramous here - can't you wear them because of a school uniform policy, or is this something your parents have decided?

If the latter, it may be that they can't afford them, or they have decided they are shoddily made and not worth the money.

(I know you'll probably not want to hear this, but as you get older :-) you'll find that you don't want to waste money on shoddy stuff, even if it is temporarily appealing.

You may have a couple of options - get an afterschool job and save up for them, if your parents okay this, or (gasp) leave to sew and make yourself unique and nifty stuff.

It's the person who counts, not what they're wearing.

people sell their used designer clothing on ebay for real cheap...sometimes as cheap as 99 cents. if price is the issue, try looking on ebay!

My kids are in elementary school. I don't have to worry about them wanting the A&F clothing. Good thing, too, because they will not be wearing it anyway. I have seen several articles of A&F clothing and ads for it that are racist and misogynistic. I don't support companies that think those messages are entertaining and appropriate. Do other parents talk to their kids about these types of things, or am I just really sensitive to these issues?
