SPORTS: Paly's Diepenbrock leaves for Caņada College basketball job
Sports, posted by Editor, Palo Alto Online, on May 13, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Only a lucky few ever get the chance to coach a high school basketball team to a state championship. Peter Diepenbrock is one of those lucky ones. His 2005-06 Palo Alto boys' squad that went 32-1 and captured NorCal and CIF State Division II crowns was one for this prep history books. Diepenbrock, however, has closed that chapter in his coaching career and will begin a new one, as head coach of the Canada College men's basketball team. So... Who's in line to coach Paly boys bball next year?

It will definitely be Andrew Slayton. He has coached at Paly and did an unbelievable job at Pinewood with no players. If he gets a chance to work with the talent Paly gets he will dominate!

major loss for Paly, huge gain for his family and community college. MY best to Dr. Diep, a man nearly peerless in his basketball IQ, and unique to say the least in his undaunted coaching style. Thanks for the memories, coach.

Could this be because of the ridiculous criticism on this very forum about Diep and his "recruiting". No wonder he wants out after the lack of respect this community showed towards his efforts and accomplishments.

probably does have something to do with the earlier forum. he knows now he needs to go someplace where he can recruit openly and can let players go when he discovers someone better
