Child UNFRIENDLY Restaurant - Mint Leaf Restaurants, posted by SVMom, a resident of the Crescent Park neighborhood, on Mar 28, 2008 at 10:14 am
Hello Everyone.
I am still fuming.... I was "rejected" from Mint Leaf Restaurant last night when I walked in with four children. It was only 5:30pm and the restaurant was basically EMPTY.
They told me that they could not put two tables together to seat five of us....
I posted about the whole event on Silicon Valley Moms Blog:

You mentioned that you all ended up at Rangoon (at 575 Bryant). That is one of our favorite restaurants in Palo Alto. The noon luncheon prices are very affordable (about $5.50 for a substanial entree with many to choose from), rice, soup, and appetizer plus tea and the fortune cookie. The food itself is superb. Dinner portions are generous, the service has always been flawless.
It's "off University" , and deserves a lot of patronage and support. Very nice place. Parking at City Center garage if you can't find street parking. If you can, get there before 11:45 or after 1:00 to miss the downtown worker crowd. It is popular.

Haven't posted in a while, but have to give another hearty recommendation for Rangoon. Although we usually get take-out, the staff is incredibly nice. They recognize my voice on picking up the phone.

Although not as bad, my family has had 2 similar experiences @ Mint Leaf. We gave them another chance, but never again.
Tonight, based on the overall positive comments on Rangoon, we went there. LOVED IT!!!
I suggest everyone give it a try. Portions were quite generous, & not overly expensive.
My kids want to go back again. We had the mu shu vegetables, ginger salad, egg rolls (of course), & prawns with snow peas. All were well above average. Service was terrific. A very lovely restaurant, also. Attractive murals, & relaxing lighting.
Parked right in front of the place, too!
I would also like to suggest Green Elephant Gourmet. Reasonably priced, family friendly, & right in Mid-town.
