Muddy, hazardous Gunn fields to get face-lift

A $6.7 million plan to install synthetic turf on the stadium fields of Gunn and Palo Alto High Schools and revamp Gunn's lower fields was approved Tuesday night by the Palo Alto school board.

What ever happened to the Gunn pool? It seems like that needs to be addressed too?

The Gunn pool renovation is part of the bond measure.

And why does Gunn need a pool? What's wrong with using the 6M pool at Palo Alto High School?

Because the Paly Pool is new...donated...before we had a Superintendent who understood the value of equally distributed improvements.

Athletics are not the only thing that matters in the world. Try comparing the Paly theatre to Spangenberg and see who's ahead. We desperately need a new Paly theatre.

Also, if you look at the use schedule during the fall and spring (water polo and swimming seasons), it is clear that 8 teams (boys and girls varsity and JV/frosh-soph) cannot share a single pool.

did the bond measure pass for the gunn pool? does anyone know the current status of the pool? is there any organization around getting it done?

The bond hasn't passed yet, we are voting in June.
